Stars of "New Girl" host 2012 Telethon

Stars of “New Girl” and Local Talent at Center Telethon

Two of the stars from FOX’s hit show “New Girl” will be in Albany at the 52nd Center for Disability Services Telethon on Sunday, January 29. Lamorne Morris, who plays Winston, and Hannah Simone, who plays Cece on the show, which was nominated for a 2012 Golden Globe during its first season, will be special guests on the broadcast which airs from noon to 7 p.m., on WXXA/FOX23 News, live from the Holiday Inn Albany on Wolf Road. Morris, a native of Chicago, has appeared in other television series and was the host of “Brainrush.” Simone, who was born in London, was a teen model, a VJ in Canada, and worked for the United Nations Association in London before making her acting debut in “New Girl.”

The telethon broadcast will feature many area performers who successfully auditioned for the chance to appear on live television. They include The Music Studio’s children’s chorus, a tap number from Eleanor’s School of Dance, a performance from guitarist and vocalist Bobby Kendall, of Lake George, winner of the WGNA Country Idol contest; veteran senior singer Sylvia Grace of Troy, 15 year old keyboardist and vocalist Brittany Rose Egnot of Colonie, teen singer Chelsea Cavanaugh of Latham, singer Harrietta Watson, who lives in a Troy residence operated by the Center; young singer Ellie Frantz of Ballston Spa; 26 year old vocalist Jasmine Vanterpool of Albany; the duo of John Schwartz and Bob Dem, singer Anthony Gargiula of Glenmont, vocalist Jamel Ancrum of Albany, who is an employee of the Center; 16 year old singer Ryan Nolan of Ballston Spa, The Hurleys Vocal Trio from Menands, comprised of a brother, husband and wife; and 12 year old Matthew Boyce from Saratoga Springs.

Radio and television spots which publicize the upcoming telethon and radiothon are airing on stations in the market. You will also see public service print ads and digital billboards highlighting the date and some special guests.

The telethon promotes community awareness and is a fund-raiser for the Center’s Foundation, which supports ongoing programs, services and special needs.
