Harvey Scherer, M.D.

Dr. Scherer has been with Center Health Care at the Center for Disability Services since 1992.  His practice focuses on evaluation and medication management, in conjunction with team collaboration from the Psychology and Social Work Departments.

        Dr. Scherer received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY.  He conducted his residency in Psychiatry at Albany Medical Center during which he was appointed Chief Resident. Dr. Scherer also completed a Child Psychiatry Fellowship at Albany Medical Center.

       Prior to his appointment at Center Health Care, Dr. Scherer practiced and consulted at various healthcare facilities, including, more recently, Parsons Center for Families and Children and St. Catherine’s Center for Children and Families, both in Albany, NY; Four Winds Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY; and a private practice in Albany, NY.   Dr. Scherer is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Albany Medical College, which recognized him with its Distinguished Teacher Award in 1986.

       Dr. Scherer is a member of American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association, and the Capital District Council on Child Psychiatry.
