Congratulations to the Cerebral Palsy of New York State Staff Recognition Award Winners!


Join us in congratulating Stephanie Knaust, the Center's Chief Accounting Officer, for receiving the John R. Horvath Award of Distinction. 

This award is given to acknowledge a member of the CP of NYS Family who has made an extraordinary contribution to their community or created opportunities for people with disabilities to be more fully involved in mainstream society.

Stephanie Knaust has been an exemplary member of the Center for Disability Services staff for 26 years. She is highly respected by her colleagues for her knowledge and understanding of the program services side of the agency and for her determination to work with staff and management to ensure that the resources are available to maintain the high service standards of the organization.

Her dedication extends beyond the walls of the Center for Disability Services, as she is always willing to share her knowledge and expertise with staff at other Affiliates and with CP of NYS. She is known as a talented leader who is also able to work well as a member of a team. She has been a key player in the successful installation of IT systems for payroll, human resources, electronic health records and more. Ms. Knaust also steps up to assist at agency functions and fundraising events, working alongside other staff and volunteers. Her knowledge of programs, Center and state agency systems, and her dedication to the Center for Disability Services and its mission are examples to others and help ensure the high quality in all programs the Center conducts.

Betsy is internally motivated and dedicated.  If you need her, she is there - mentoring and guiding along the way.  Betsy is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that people are living a full life that is meaningful to them.  She is skilled in seeing the whole person and understands the importance of family relationships in people’s lives. Betsy helps people think through the pros and cons of the choices they are considering to reach a decision that is good for them. Congratulations Betsy and thank you for all you do for the people we support!

Mary is a very hard-working, conscientious and generous person who is devoted to making a difference in the lives of the people we support.  She cares deeply about her community and strives to identify and coordinate meaningful volunteer opportunities.  She loves to cook and shares this passion with people on-site through cooking and meal planning activities.  Mary also excels at leading mindfulness classes, a form of meditation that helps people relax and reduce stress. Congratulations Mary, thank you for everything you do for the people we support!

Chris is a role model for true professionalism. He is well-liked and respected by all who have the privilege of working with him.  His pleasant, upbeat and cheerful personality brightens everyone’s day.  Chris displays expert skill in defensive driving, safely driving thousands of miles each year without accidents or incidents in all kinds of weather conditions.   Thank you for your exceptional dedication and commitment to the people we support.

Patti is dedicated and highly proficient in her role as Office Manager. Known for her exceptional teamwork, she is willing to jump in wherever she is needed. She can often be seen grocery shopping, cooking lunch for the students or subbing in a classroom. There is no task that is too large or too small that she will not undertake. She is an excellent role model showing how administrative staff can partner with program staff to deliver the most meaningful supports and services.
