The Center for Disability Services is celebrating and recognizing Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!

The month of March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, an opportunity to continue raising awareness and promoting the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life. The Center for Disability Services has been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities for 80 years.

The Center offers several different types of programs for individuals with disabilities of all ages to help achieve independent lifestyles.

OPWDD Commissioner Neifeld Tours the Center's Health Innovations Incubator and Technology Center (HII Tech)

As we celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, we had the opportunity to welcome New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Neifeld to the Health Innovations Incubator and Technology Center (HII Tech), the research and development arm at the Center for Disability Services for a tour. HII Tech is focused on applied research and product development to further the Center's mission to make life better for those with disabilities. Projects include practical tools and products that provide comfort and enable individuals with disabilities and the aging to experience and achieve more in life. We are grateful to have the opportunity to show Commissioner Neifeld the innovative work at HII Tech, including a patent pending oral hygiene product, patented seating system, along with several other products currently in development.

Thank you Commissioner for your dedication to promoting maximum independence for the people we support!
