The Buddy Walk is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievements of people who have Down syndrome. We are encouraging everyone to join us in celebration of 26 years of this great community fundraising event to benefit the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center at the Center for Disability Services.
Funds raised at the Buddy Walk have a direct impact on individuals with Down syndrome and their families in our communities in any stage of life. Here are just a few highlights of the accomplishments of the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center from the past year:
Provided Parent education & empowerment via one on one IEP/Educational consultation, linkage and referrals to 40 families
Provided Professional Development & Educational Consultation on successful strategies for education of students with disabilities to 66 Education Professionals (Teachers, Administrators, and Teaching Assistants)
Enrichment and Empowerment seminars for Self-Advocates, including resume writing to 6 individuals, and held two sessions for self advocacy with 10-12 participants per session.
